............…Since pre historic times, man has created tools out of wood and metal with the ultimate objective to subdue and con-
trol nature. Since antiquity, wood became the mechanism used in windmills to produce food. Metal emerged as machinery
much later and unfortunately, industrialized metal was not only used to produce food. This metal, embedded in wood, resurfaces
in the work of Gino Savino as a phenomenon of the artists’ admiration for the human capacity to create from what nature has
afforded him: the organic fuses – in an aesthetic way – with the inorganic. Dazzled yet attentive to technology, the artist uses
the symbol of a test tube, the measurement of time and a computer chip rooted in wood, with the aim to alert everyone that
technological advances must respect the “reasons” of nature. Although hopelessness persists in cohabiting with contemporary
man, there is still hope: thanks to his technology… or perhaps, in spite of it.
